Grass Roots Program

 

Mentoring:

  • R.O.S.E.S. Mentoring is a mentoring model designed to work specifically with girls who are juvenile justice involved and need community linkage.The primary goal is to engage girls in pro-social activities and strengthen relationships with healthy adults, along with creating connectedness, social engagement, self-love, and civic awareness. The program is 3 to 6 months with individual and group sessions. Target population: females ages 12-18
  • Men Of Courage will engage youth in one-on-one mentoring based on a national mentoring standard. Youth will meet with their assigned mentor weekly and are expected to stay engaged for 9 to 12 months. The primary focus is for the youth to engage in a pro-social activity. Target population: males ages 12 – 18
  • Renounce Denounce is a community-based program that utilizes staff with lived experiences and can serve youth who are at the highest risk for ODYS commitment. Youth referred will complete a 2-phase program with an overall 3-to-6-month duration. The goal of the program is to reduce recidivism and strengthen resiliency through natural community support and mentors.

    Target population: ages 12 – 18, moderate to high-risk youth with felony-level offenses

  • Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance seeks to empower youth in the community to minimize youth violence through mentoring, case management, and interactive programming designed around a credible messenger approach. The goal of the program is to reduce recidivism and strengthen resiliency through natural community support and mentors. This is a 6-month program with one-on-one meetings weekly with the mentor and monthly group sessions. Target population: felony level high risk to recidivate youth.

 

Positive Youth Development:

  • Esperanza will provide participants with specific evidence-based “One Circle” models for support to address gun violence, conflict resolution, trauma, and anger by engaging the youth in pro-social activities. The program is uniquely equipped to serve the Latin X community with all provided materials being bilingual. The groups meet twice a month for two hours and are divided by gender. Target population: males and females ages 12-18.
  • Love Train Ministries will engage participants in a curriculum that will focus on creating positive adult relationships that model and support pro-social decision making. Youth will work with their mentor on a weekly basis, participate in group outings and monthly support meetings, and engage in a pro-social activity. Youth will be involved for up to 20 weeks.
  • The Friendly Inn will deliver services to youth in the Central Neighborhood. Services include linkage to potential employment, vocational training, and linkage, tutoring and social-emotional learning through the Youth Coordinator. Youth are expected to participate multiple times a week for a course for 12 weeks. Target population: males and females ages 12-18
  • Golden Ciphers will engage participants in four possible gender-specific tracks and will offer entrepreneurial and employment training in collaboration with local agencies. The program’s primary goal is to instill resiliency and accountability across life’s domains. Target population: males and females ages 12-18
  • Change the Narrative will work with youth to identify topics such as empathy, goal creation, and building supports in the community. The participants will improve their social-emotional skills in a group setting to improve their ability to manage their triggers while at home, school and in the community. The group will meet for 2 hours a week for 10 weeks. Target population: Males ages 12-8 years old
  • CHESS participants will learn relationship building, critical thinking, and healthy decision-making skills via the correlation with the game of chess. The primary goal of this program is to engage the youth in pro-social activities with a positive youth development framework while developing the skills of thinking before acting, self-confidence, self-awareness, and meditation. The program will meet 2 times per week for 6 weeks. Target population: males 12-18
  • Girls Scouts N.E.O. will engage girls interested in STEM in combination with entrepreneurship and outdoor life skills. Girls will work from the Journey program and engage in pro-social experiences, activities to expand critical thinking and how to engage in the world around them, and career development. They will meet twice a week for 1-hour sessions. Target population: females ages 11-17
  • It Takes a Village Healing Circle Program is facilitated through a healing circle technique and will use cognitive behavioral techniques. The primary goal of the program is to increase empathy for justice involved youth and provide an opportunity for restorative justice. Youth will meet 2-3 weekly in a group setting for 3 to 6 months. Target population: males 12- 18 years old.
  • The Musketeer Association will engage youth in building empathy and accountability for their actions as it relates to the world around them. The program’s primary goal is to improve empathy and provide opportunities for restorative justice interventions. Each youth will participate in placing a self-watering flowerpot at the location of a traumatic event to give a token of healing. Target population: males ages 12-18

     

    Educational/Vocational:

  • Legacies Empowered will be directed into one of four areas of study: Make-up Artistry, Digital Design & Screen Printing, Videography & Photography and Cosmetology, Hair & Nails. Youth will participate in up to 50 hours of hands-on learning and will receive the necessary equipment and training from industry professionals. This is a paid program. Target population: Males & Females ages 10 & up.

    *Only youth ages 16 and up will be eligible to take certification tests per state law

  • Nerve DJ Institute will engage youth in hands-on studio-based classes to learn DJ techniques, sound engineering, and music technology. The program meets 4 times per week for 10 weeks with morning or afternoon sessions. Upon graduation job placement assistance, networking opportunities, and community enrichment experiences will be provided. Target population: males and females ages 16 and up
  • Sports & Spine Therapy Inc. will engage the youth in job readiness skills, financial literacy, and allied health professions. Youth participate in an 8-week cirriculum that can be extended if needed. The program participants will engage at the facility at least once a week but no more than 3 times per week.Target population: males and females ages 14-18
  • IMind Expressive Art Therapy & Violence Prevention Program is a full-service mentorship that will provide a combination of evidence-based therapeutic and violence prevention curriculums with wrap-around supports that include mental health supports, substance abuse treatment skills, and job readiness training, linkage to internships and employment, educational/vocational training, housing supports, as well as life-coaching and case management. Target population is male and females ages 14-19.

 

Restorative Justice:

The overarching goal of the Restorative Justice approach is to respond to acts of delinquency by youth in the community and allows them to strengthen their connection to community members, build empathy, and create a sense of belonging within the community.

Project Lift:

Restorative Justice program restores person harmed in delinquency matters. This process is driven by community members as an alternative to official court proceedings. It allows the youth, and the person harmed an opportunity develop a plan to hold youth accountable for harm done and restore the person harmed. Project Lift provides extensive specialized service delivery to black males that are justice involved. Executive Director LaToya Logan is a certified trauma therapist, and the program provide services for people who have experienced violence in the community. Target population: youth ages 14 and up, along with the person harmed.

 

New Community:

New Community will engage three faith-based institutions to successfully involve community members and stakeholders in the neighborhoods of the Slavic Village, Glenville & the Near West Side. Youth will participate at least once a week for 14-16 weeks. Target population: youth ages 12-18, along with person harmed.
